Over the years, the brand has changed a lot. Its USP used to be luxury at an affordable price with basic packaging and no advertising. Now, not only have the prices jumped up but they advertise everywhere and the packaging and products are a lot more luxurious. It isn’t what it used to be - but I’m still a member because some of their products are just that good.
Although there’s no more buying a lipstick for less than the price of a latte, the products are some of my favourites and, to me, worth the price.
Recently, after trying other brands for a while, I stocked up on a few of my old favourites and tried a couple of new launches as well - and I have to say, I still have a lot of love for Beauty Pie.
Vanille Nue EDP
Perfume is deeply personal. One person’s yuk is definitely another’s yum, and the fact that scent is so evocative means we associate them strongly with certain events or memories.
As for me, I don’t like a lot of perfumes, so I tend to stick to one or two I really love. These change over time, so I can almost flick back through the pages of my life with certain scents.
My teen years were all about Paco Rabanne Ultraviolet. My student days are relived with a waft of DKNY’s Be Delicious. Getting married, graduation and all the other special high days and holidays in my life smell like Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. My days of being a new mama smell like Escentric Molecules 01. More recently, I’ve been addicted to Prada Paradoxe.
I rarely buy a perfume without smelling it first, but Beauty Pie has tempted me to take a couple of risks over the past few years. ‘Balade D’Un Foret’ was a disaster, a green, woody scent that left me cold. But I loved the quirky ‘Angelique’s Letters’, an unusual combination of fresh and slightly smokey with notes of lemon sherbert, rum and sweet tobacco that reminds me of a smoky cocktail bar in Paris.
That led me to take a chance on one of their new offerings, ‘Vanille Nue’. Described as ‘innocent but mischievous, naive but sophisticated’ - how could I not be tempted by this delightful contradiction in terms, seeing as that’s exactly how I’d describe myself?
Combining a heart of warm vanilla with top notes of fresher bergamot, almond, rum absolute, and heady white Heliotrope and Jasmine, this is a clean but sophisticated ‘naked skin’ scent.
Youthbomb Breakthrough Repair Cream
The Youthbomb range of products is one of the things that has kept me switched on to Beauty Pie. Formulated by Dr Andrew Markey, the line is supposedly made in one of the world’s most advanced skincare labs to deliver next-gen anti-aging power.
Now I’m definitely not one to grow old gracefully - I’ll fight every last wrinkle and sunspot, so I joined the waiting list for the Youthbomb serum when it launched. The range has since expanded to include a couple of face creams and one for the body. The Biologic Collagen Peptide Cream felt a little heavy for me, so this lighter weight alternative launch appealed.
It promises a cocktail of ingredients called Regen F-25 Infusion to visibly firm, lift, tighten, smooth, plump and fade out age spots and wrinkles. Sign me up! There’s a stem cell guard complex, anti-oxidants and polyglutamic acid to help maintain a healthy skin barrier. I’m hoping that this will be just the thing to combat the colder winter weather.
Youthbomb 360 Radiance Concentrate
The serum that started it all - formulated in Switzerland, this elixir is a must-have for me. It’s one of the products that keeps me hooked on Beauty Pie, so I had to stock up.
It helps to firm, lift, and tighten skin, soften lines and restore radiance to the skin, with 15 active ingredients to resurface, plump and hydrate. Hexapeptines, marine actives and phyto extracts do the heavy lifting.
The packaging is beautiful - you click the button on top of the lid for a perfectly measured single dose - and it feels amazing on the skin. My skin feels brighter and healthier almost straight away. I love this for giving a healthy glow and a hit of anti-aging goodness in one.
Soul Providers Energizing Dry Oil Sugar Scrub
This is another item on repeat order to my home. Hopping into the shower, this is the one product I always reach for to turn it from a quick wash into something more like a boujie spa experience.
It leaves limbs smooth, polished and glowing, in the best possible way. Gently removing dry skin and bumpy bits, the oil soaks in for deep hydration. The single best thing is the uplifting black pepper and lemongrass scent. It’s wonderfully uplifting and snaps me into cocktail mode in an instant.
It feels like a really nice everyday luxury to have, whether I’m gearing up for a tough day ahead or trying to transform myself from tired mama to night out glam. With antioxidant Indian Gooseberry, detoxing Holy Basil and Apricot and Evening Primose Oils in the mix, you’ll feel like a new woman getting out of the shower.
Super Healthy Skin Featherlight UVA/UVB SPF 50 Sunscreen + Primer
Sunscreen is the one skincare item I will never compromise on or skip, and this one is up there with the best. It’s a state-of-the-art, 2 in 1 sunscreen and primer with SPF 50.
The magic is in the mix - there’s light-absorbing DNA Shield technology to fight sun damage and inflammation, a grape extract to detoxify and hydrate and a blend of plant-based stem cells and peptides that reduce the oxidation skin is exposed to.
The best thing is that it's so light and easily absorbed (I can’t tell you how many heavy, greasy SPF 50s I’ve tried) and as a primer it's also designed to sit well under makeup so there’s no pilling or separation when putting foundation on time. Another Beauty Pie must-have for me.
Plantastic Deep Nourishing Moisture Balm
Not a product I’ve tried before, although it's been out for a while now. But with the cold, rainy, windy weather skin can take quite a beating and this does-it-all balm for face, neck, hands, elbows and any other dehydrated bits looked soothing and comforting.
Packed with natural Shea and Murumuru Butters, Sesame and Coconut Oils and antioxidant Vitamin E, it's a cold-weather comfort. It’s perfect for delivering that extra kick of moisture for stressed, dried-out skin.
Those are my top winter picks from Beauty Pie - some old faithfuls and some brand-new bits too. Have you tried the brand yet?
